Brunette to Blonde: At Home Tutorial {My first video is LIVE!}

Eek!! I am SO excited because today, I am doing something very different... I am releasing my FIRST EVER VIDEO TUTORIAL!! {I'm only a little hyped about it, in case you can't tell haha.}

For those of you that have been following me on Snapchat (@frilltho) you know that I've been contemplating coloring my own hair for a couple of weeks now. It's the ultimate dilemma; do you pay a fortune to know it will turn out right. or do you try it yourself but risk turning your hair orange?

Whelp. I'm a cheapo when it comes to beauty maintenance and am incredibly stubborn. (If I get an idea in my head, there's nothing anyone can say to make me change my mind.) Plus I love a good challenge! So, I decided to go for it! (At the very least it would make for entertaining content right?!)
I have to say, I think it turned out great! Why don't you take a look for yourself and let me know!?

Best Shoes for your Resort Vacation

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Hi All! If you've been following my Snapchat (@frilltho) then you know that I am currently in the process of making a YouTube video for you guys! I am so excited!!! But considering that and the fact that we had tornado weather (aka no time to shoot yesterday) I figured I'd do a quick round up post today.

Resort wear, to me, is in a category all it's own. Any time I plan a vacation, I also plan an entire list of items I need to buy specifically for that trip. This is especially the case when I am going to a resort-type destination. So with my Mexico trip coming up in two weeks (**squeal, jump, clap**), I wanted to share a couple of my favorite resort inspired shoe choices. Y'all know how much I love shoes!

LA Chic

I'm the type of person that lives in bright pops of color. It doesn't matter where I'm headed, I always want to be wearing a bright print or a mix of colors. That said, when I threw on this outfit, I surprisingly loved it! The lace up top just makes such a statement... It just instantly makes the entire look so chic! Plus, have y'all ever worn a bodysuit?! OMG so easy! You don't have to worry about making sure it stays tucked into your jeans and they all seem to have the most slimming fits. {I know they've been around forever, but this was my first time wearing one.}

Happy Tuesday!

Totally 80s Retro Ski Weekend

Her Outfit: Retro One-Piece Ski Outfit {ebay, similar here, here, here & a ton here} // JammyPack
My Outfit: Retro Surf Style Windbreaker // Metallic Liquid Leggings {I wear a size S // Aubrey has the same pair and wears a M. They are water resistant but not waterproof.}
 Check out fellow Shark Tank company, Tipsy Elves, for easy 80s Ski looks!

If you know me well you know there is only one think I love more than beautiful, blog-worthy clothing and events. And that my friends, the complete opposite of blog-worthiness.... 80s ski weekend and the correspondingly outrageous outfits!

Aubrey and I stumbled upon 80s Weekend at Beech Mountain our senior year at Appalachian State and we've been hooked ever since. We literally block off our calendar months in advance every year! Everyone dresses in their wildest neons, retro ski one pieces and fanny packs to "butters the gnar" with all of the other avid 80s lovers.

The entire weekend is packed with thematic events including Packman competitions, trivia nights, and apparel contests. The best part? Definitely the immediate camaraderie! Everyone you meet is instantly a new friend! It's simply the best!

Anyway, 80s ski weekend was this past weekend, so here are a couple of pics from the chaos, including some of our new friends! {I apologize in advance for all of the iPhone pics, I wasn't really trying to bring the good camera out on the slopes.}

Whelp, that was my weekend! I hope you all had a great one, as well!

Marooned Sailor

Maroon cable knit sweater // Striped tunic {old, similar}
Lace up shootie pumps {50% off right now!} // Monogram necklace
Burgundy statement earrings {old, sorry currently no similar}

The other weekend, I went to the beach with some friends and ended up boating in 50 degree weather. Needless to say, it was freezing! So, with what little winter wear that I packed, I lived in this turtleneck-tunic layer combo. (Ok so maybe I didn't wear the heels on the boat, but don't they just tie the whole look together!) Want to make it more casual? Pair it with some duck boots! (Aka what I actually ended up wearing on the boat haha.) I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

Side note - Frill is currently having a HUGE skirt sale. We are talking more than 50% off, y'all! No coupon is needed. The prices are already marked down, so shop away!

DIY Flower Centerpiece {Galentine's Edition}

As I am sure many of you saw, the second annual Raleigh Blog Society's Galentine's Brunch was held last week and it was absolutely beautiful!! I have to say, though, my favorite part of the decor was the centerpiece. Instead of simply ordering a bouquet, Meghan and I decided to create it ourselves and I think it turned out perfectly!

So, in case if you are interested in doing the same, I figured I'd provide a quick DIY post!

Step 1) Gather your materials. You will need:
    1 Low sitting vase
    1 Floral foam ball (that fits snugly in your vase)
    1 Growers bunch of Eucalyptus
    1 Dozen white Ranunculus
    1 Dozen light pink Ranunculus
    1 Dozen dark pink Ranunculus

Step 2) Shave down foam and start adding base foliage.
Ideally, the foam will be just in line with the top of the vase so shave off as much from the bottom as needed. Soak it in water and then place it in the vase. Start building the "base" of the arrangement. I like to do this by putting about four stems of eucalyptus on the left side of the arrangement and creating a "spilling" effect. (Stick them in at about a 45 degree angle on the ball and let them naturally drape to the table.) Do the same on the other side of the arrangement but, with less drape. (The asymmetrical look will create interest.)

Then take two flowers of the same color and place them next to each other on the left side of the arrangement. Stagger the other two colored flowers near the original flowers. Insert a few spare, unbosomed buds between the flowers and the eucalyptus.

Step 3) Continue adding flowers, creating a swooping path.
There's not really a method to this madness. Just do what feels and looks right. As you can see we have some what of a reverse S shape going on here and I think it works really well. You want to create movement and height variation. (I like to add a couple of random flowers - like the ones on the right - at varying heights to create a light and airy feel.)

Step 4) Insert left over greenery and smaller buds to areas that are sparse. Do so at varying heights.
Centerpieces can be tough because there often isn't really a "front." With this in mind, it is incredibly important that your arrangement doesn't have any bald spots. Filing in the arrangement with additional items, including small buds will help it look really organic!

Step 5) Style it to perfection!
Place your beautiful creation in the center of a table and style it with your favorite glassware, china and candles! We chose to use a piece of soft pink cotton fabric to drape under the arrangement as a table runner. It created a delicate, romantic feel.

I hope you feel inspired to try it yourself! Best wishes this week!

Valentine's Lace

Chicwish eyelash lace shift dress in plum c/o  // Burgundy statement earrings {old, sorry currently no similar} // Lace up shootie pumps {50% off right now!}

When it comes to Valentine's looks, I like to stick with pieces that feel timeless. Especially when dressing for a date night, I want a piece that is both classic and chic... What better way to accomplish that than with lace!

When I found this dress on Chicwish the other day, I instantly knew it would be my Valentine's dress. I love the detail of the collar and the difference in the slip length and the skirt length makes such a statement! Don't have a date lined up? Go on a galentines date! I've been on two so far and they're the best! I hope you have a great rest of the week!
