Hi Loves!! I'm writing this really late because the traffic was terrible on our way home from vacation, so I'm going to keep it short and sweet.
We did a lot of traveling this weekend, so for visiting the family I wanted something that was warm, cute and somewhat casual, but with a touch of sophistication. So I combined this look with this one to create the perfect balance between the two! Don't you think it turned out perfect for a transition to winter?
I hope you all had an amazing holiday weekend! In case you missed it, I did a special THANK YOU post on Thursday that thanked each and every one of you. Please be sure to check it out because I really do want you all to know how much you mean to me! Much love!

I'm Thankful for YOU!

Just a quick post today as you are all spending time with your families and loved ones, but I wanted to share something very important and let you all know how much you mean to me.

On this day, I am specifically very thankful for all of you!

To my parents and friends, thank you.
I know you sometimes don't understand why I blog or the overall purpose. And I know you get annoyed at my constant picture taking - stopping in the middle of events to get the perfect shot, going out of my way {with you} to style things or constantly handing the camera over for outfit pictures - you help me make my blog what it is and I so appreciate it. Thank you for constantly helping me create content, reviewing my drafted posts and bouncing around social media ideas. You guys are awesome!

{Special shout out and thanks to Sharon, Savannah, Aubrey, Bryan, Chelsea and Mom for being the ones that do these things on a weekly basis.}

Also, huge thank you to all of my friends for putting up with my constant, shameless self promotion on Facebook and Instagram. For not complaining about me taking up your news feeds, etc. I know it gets to be a bit much. Thank you also for letting me pull from your closets when my own starts to seem uninspiring. Thank you!!

To the brands that collaborate with me, thank you.
I am so honored by all of the collaborations, sponsorships and partnerships that have been formed through blogging. Thank you for your continued support and for trusting me to create styled content for you. When I first started my blog, I never imagined I would be able to form such amazing connections with businesses of all sizes, both local, national and international. I so value these connections and can't wait for the future of them.

To all of you that read my blog regularly, thank you.
You are the reason I create content. Your kind words are a constant motivation and I am so thankful for the continued viewership. Thank you to my fellow bloggers for the comments and inspiration. For all of you that have now become my friends. It is through all of this that I have grown both personally and in web traffic. I am so moved.

I fully recognize that my blog would not be the same without each and everyone of you. Best wishes during this season and on! *Cheers*

Blanket Scarf & Cardigan Layers

Meet Savannah, y'all. Savannah is our everything at Frill - Our assistant, comedian, web expert, Roxy entertainer, bridal manager, online sales director.... The list could go one for days I swear.

Anyway, we have a running joke at the office that if anything is cute, preppy, colorful, J.Crew or "blogworthy" then it is "SKS approved" or "SKS inspired." (What can I say, the girls have learned my taste and know when a look is something I would relate to {or want to borrow}). So when I walked into the office the other day and started talking to Savannah, she naturally asked if the outfit was SKS approved. I told her it was MORE than approved, it was guest post worthy haha. So here we are. But really... How blog worthy is this look!!? So cute! I love how trendy the scarf is, but that the colors and print are so classic. Don't you agree?

Thanksgiving Day Look

Jacket: J.Crew {old, similar here & here on sale for $60}
Sweater: Loft {similar} // Scarf: Etsy {only $12}
Jeans: H&M {similar} // Flats: J.Crew {old, similar here & here}

I think it's safe to say that winter has finally struck NC and man it will chill you to the bone! So, as the type of person that's constantly cold anyway, I've been carrying blanket scarves around with me everywhere. I have one in my purse and one in my car. A bit much, I know, but there is nothing worse than being cold or wearing too few layers. Don't you just love this yellow jacket and blanket scarf for fall? It is the Thanksgiving Day outfit look, don't you agree? I love that the plaid ties in all of the fall colors and makes this simple look pop.

PS - Sorry the pics are so dark... This daylight savings time is really throwing me off! haha

Born Pretty Store Mascara Review

{Outfit linked here}

I'm a full make up type of person. {I always like to be camera ready, ok?} When there's not enough time for that, though, simply foundation and mascara are my go-to. That said, I am extremely picky about the mascara that I use. When it comes to my lashes, I like mascaras that lengthen and add volume. Ones that stay a long time and don't smear. Well guys, I've officially found one I love!

Born Pretty Store's Double-Ended Lengthening Mascara Serum

Fibers/Lack of Eye Agitation:
I tried a "fiber mascara" over the summer and had major regrets. The product was expensive {$20} and caused major agitation to my eyes. They were itching and burning all day. I rubbed them endlessly which then in turn caused running. Talk about chaos! Need less to say, I was quite skeptical about trying a new fiber mascara. This one doesn't have the dry, hair-like fibers, though. Instead it has a smooth cream that easily applies and STAYS where it belongs.

Ability to Lengthen & Add Volume:
The white fiber cream subtly lengthens and creates natural volume, while a black mascara liquid polishes your look. I personally like a touch of clumping. (I think it looks natural and makes the lashes look thicker.) The best part about this product? You can use the brushes to create any type of look you want! Want a little clumping, great. Want a smooth look, just use the brush to smooth the fibers. The length and volume is
     Rating: 5/5

Layering ability:
Like I said before mascara is one of my favorite make ups, and one of my guilty pleasures is layering on multiple mascaras at once. (They each seem to have their own strength/specialty!) I think this one does the job by itself, but if you want to add a little punch, this mascara works great with others!
     Rating: 5/5

Long wear:
Simply put, it lasts forever!! It literally stays, without running or flaking, for as long as you want until you take it off!
      Rating: 5/5

The only down side to this mascara is that it's really hard to remove. I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible at removing any mascara. (Is there any way to avoid looking like a racoon?) This one is really hard to remove, though. My best suggestion? Soak your lashes gently as you was your face and then stroke downward.
     Rating: 2/5

I highly recommend this! It adds a ton of volume and is gentle on your eyes. It doesn't cause agitation and is perfect for lengthening. Plus it's great for layering and is long lasting!

Try it here {for only $4!!} - Oh yea did I mention the great price too? It's so cheap!

The Perfect Wool Coat

Coat: Vogos c/o // Sweater: Gap Factory {in store only, similar here for $20}
Jeans: Uniqlo // Necklace: M&L via Frill // Tassel Necklace: BaubleBar
Shoes: BCBG {similar here}

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to shopping. Yes, I love to shop, but believe it or not I actually also love budgeting. So when it comes to finding new outerwear I'm all about finding the perfect balance between price and quality. I love the style of J.Crew coats, but their $300 price tag is a bit much for this girl. I've tried the opposite end of the spectrum, purchasing a coat from SheInside, but the fabric was so poor it didn't matter how low the price tag was. So when I found Vogos, I was ecstatic. Not only are their pieces affordable, but they are amazing quality. I've been eyeing pink winter coats for quite some time now and I couldn't be happier about this one! It's cute and makes a pop when you want it to, but it's still muted enough to be worn with a ton of outfits, plus it's adorable!! Looking for something out of the box for the holiday's?  I'd definitely recommend this wool coat!

Perfect Fall Picnic in Boone {with Our Daily Bread}

Blanket: Target {other colors here} // Cutting Boards: Target here & here
Baskets: Michael's {in store} // Blanket Scarves: Etsy here & here
Sweater: Gap Outlet // Jeans: Uniqlo
Boots: Rue 21 {also here}

Boone is one of those places that's filled with hidden gems. It takes a while to find them, but once you do those spots - restaurants, hiking trails, boutiques, etc. - will be your go-tos for years to come. As a student this is great, but as someone visiting the area this can be a little tough. (You'll spend more time trying to figure out where you should go than actually visiting these spots.) So today, I'm here to help by sharing two of my Boone faves - Beacon Heights Rock and Our Daily Bread!! Plus, I'll tell you how to style the perfect mountain top picnic!

The Blue Ridge Parkway is filled with amazing views and overlooks, but my favorite by far though, is Beacon Heights. It is a huge, flat rock face that looks out over miles of mountainous terrain. It is beautiful all year long but especially so when the leaves are changing. {Unfortunately, I think I missed that by a couple of weeks.}

Our Daily Bread {ODB} is a classic in Boone. It is founded on good food, good service and good people. They have the perfect variety of menu items and are great for any meal! Combine the two and you have the makings for a picture perfect picnic!

What do you need?
   - A blanket
   - A basket (or two)
   - Some wine
   - Apples or other seasonal fruit
   - Smaller blankets or blanket scarves
   - Sandwiches {I chose the Brie BLT and The Gobbler from ODB}
   - Fresh loaf of bread {In the spirit of fall, I chose Pumpkin Bread from ODB}
   - Cutting board(s) or platters
.... And good company! In my case, that was my mom. My mom is one of my best friends and biggest supporters. My thanks to her are endless, so when we were planning our trip, I knew I wanted to plan something special at a place that would wow her. Hope you loved it, Mom!

Visiting Boone, NC some time soon? Check out these places for an unforgettable experience!
