Purple Midi Dress

Dress: H&M // Scarf: J.Crew (old) // Bag: Michael Kors // Shoes: Shoe Dazzle (old, similar here
Belt: Forever 21 (old)  // Bracelets: J.Crew (same here just different color)

Being short, 5'2" to be exact, I have always been a little hesitant of midi hemlines. So easily, mid-shin skirts can make short people look even shorter. But I have to say, I was quite surprised by this dress. It actually felt quite chic. Without the belt it looks a little moo-moo-ish, but with the belt, I love it!

Number one rule for short people wearing a midi skirts - wear heels! It elongates the legs and helps eliminate that chopped off look.

Fuchsia Lips

Top: J.Crew (on sale!)  // Jeans: Uniqlo // Shoes: J.Crew // Purse: Forever 21 (old)
Earrings: Frill // Bracelet: Frill // Lips: NYX in Shocking Pink // Nails: ORLY in La Vida Loca

I am so excited to post this outfit, y'all! Ever since my shirt arrived, I knew that I had to pair it with a bright lip! It took me forever - as in 3 separate lipstick purchases - to decide on the one shown here, but I am completley obsessed! It matches so perfectly and definitely adds some sass. And let's be real, in the South, sass is everything! (In case you're interested, the other lipsticks I tested were NYX in Dolly Girl and Smashbox in Vibrant Magenta .)

Sorry the exposures are night and day. When we adjusted the camera for close ups, it completely changed lighting, but I just had to post all of them!!

Prep School Layers

Blouse: J.Crew (almost identical here)  // Sweater: J.Crew // Jeans: H&M // Shoes: J.Crew
Necklace: Moon & Lola // Bracelet: Frill // Ring: H&M (same here) // Earrings: Frill

I am a J.Crew fanatic! J.Crew factory, regular J.Crew, it doesn't matter - I love it all. So naturally, when I saw this light blue gingham button up, I knew I had to have it. Ever since I bought it, though, I've been struggling to style it. If simply paired with jeans, the top has a tendency to look very cowgirl. Don't get me wrong, that can definitely still look cute, but that's not my style. So when I paired it with this mint sweater, I was ecstatic! The look is very cute and chic, but still laid back. Throw in a monogram and it's perfection!

Pocket Sweater

Sweater: Madewell (old, similar here)  // Tank: Target // Jeans: H&M
Necklace: Frill (out of stock, also sold here) // Shoes: Charlotte-Russe (old)

It is freezing here! I know I don't have room to complain compared to whats going on in the more northern states. And I know I went to school in the mountains for four years, in the freezing rain. But burrrrr, I feel like I could freeze into a statue at any moment!!

Currently, I am living in sweaters and staying in bed as long as possible. Grab a redbox and hibernate y'all, winter's a comin'!  Oh and guess what - I'm finalizing the blog makeover plans this week, very excited!!

Huge thanks to Noelle Potter at Samuel Cole Salon! I love my new hair cut!

Comfy Sweater

Sweater: JC Penney on Clearance (I love this one too) // Jeans: Uniqlo
// Shoes: J.Crew (out of stock, similar here and here) //
Necklace: Towne & Reese

It's freezing here! This is the type of weather that makes you want to curl up on the couch and watch movies all day - aka it's comfy sweater weather, y'all. On days when it's freezing I find it very easy to get stuck in a rut of boring outfits. All I want to do in 30 degree weather is wear a warm top and jeans. I don't care what I wear, as long as I'm warm. Which is completely fine, but that's not who I am style-wise. I am a person that loves pops of color. So, what better way to add color and excitement to your outfit on these bitterly cold days than with an awesome pair of shoes. I mean, not only are these flats neon yellow, but they have a gold heel!! *drool*

Anyway, all I'm saying is that nasty weather doesn't have to mean boring outfits. It also doesn't mean that you have to freeze your booty off to look cute. It simply means that your accessories can carry your outfit when your outfit is otherwise feeling a little boring. Stay stylish ladies! Show 'em you've still got it, even when it's cold out!

Sequin Skirt for New Years Eve

Top: Frill  // Skirt: ASOS (old, also like this one)  // Necklace: Frill //
Shoes: Shoe Dazzle (old, similar here and here)  // Nails: Gelish All That Glitters is Gold

For this NYE, I decided to tackle two of the year's most popular trends in one night - sequins and a peplum. I know that sequins are way over done for New Years Eve, but there's a reason everyone wears them - they're adorable! I spent my New Years Eve at a cabin near the North Carolina Zoo with some amazing friends. I hope you all had a wonderful NYE, as well. Best wishes in coming year and happy 2014!!
